Our Story

In February Simon Grice (an Internet services entrepreneur) moved house to a large family 5 bedroomed house in Suffolk. The house needed its heating and hot water systems updating. Simon and his wife though't it would make financial and moral sense to invest in appropriate microgeneration power technologies.

They initially turned to the Internet to help them find out what was possible, what the options are and who their local suppliers and installers are. Simon wasn't impressed with the disparate information available and with Emma's support decided to create Ourpower to act as a single directory and source for information for microgeneration technologies.

Simon was introduced to Patrick Cherry who had been working on renewable projects for the previous 18 months. After 4 years as a Group Board Director of dotcom phenomenom MessageLabs, Patrick had decided that renewables not only looked like good business, but also were a good way to make 'the' difference. A long time bore about Peak Oil and Climate Change, Patrick grew up with wind turbines and biomass boilers, and a solar panel powered his stereo when he and his wife-to-be Fiona travelled around Asia way back in 1991.

Together, over the last few months, they have put the Ourpower website together.

Ourpower is managed and developed by the following people:
